About

UPDATE (5/20/15): I recently transitioned to manage a team within Facebook Ads Analytics; we are an analytics team — Ads Product Quality — that works closely with the industrious folks building new tools and products for our advertisers.  Sadly, this work occupies the vast majority of my time and severely hinders my ability to update and/or respond to your questions in a timely manner.

UPDATE (2/11/13): I’ve accepted a position with Facebook’s Marketing Science team in Menlo Park, CA where I’ll be measuring and enhancing the marketing effectiveness of ad campaigns on Facebook.  So if I don’t respond to your comments or post frequently, that is why.

UPDATE (5/1/12): I have now graduated and just landed a job  with The Nielsen Company in San Francisco, CA.  I get to use econometrics to quantify the impact of various marketing campaigns on store sales, measure price elasticities of demand, and design experiments for targeted advertising campaigns.

My name is Kevin Goulding and I am currently working towards a Master’s degree in Applied Economics at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT.

I am putting together this blog to help graduate students use the R statistical software in parallel with whatever software their professor has chosen and make the results consistent across software platforms.  I hope that some of the hours I spent scouring the internet for insignificant pieces of code will be obviated by the information on this blog.

I am currently writing my thesis on strategic bidding behavior in New York state wholesale electricity market.  My interests include applied microeconomics, empirical industrial organization, energy finance and econometrics.

Thoughts, comments, ideas?  Let me know; I’m always appreciative of feedback.  Correspondence via e-mail can be directed to kevingoulding [at] gmail {dot} com.
